Althea Pieters is a financial sector expert with over two decades of central banking bank supervision policy development and crisis management experience. Althea is currently a Managing Director and Head of Regulatory Strategy at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) Americas Division. She plays an integral role in shaping the bank’s response to regulatory proposals and regulatory relations matters.
Althea previously served as the Head of U.S. Regulatory Policy at Credit Suisse. She also held various positions in bank supervision bank examination and policy development at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System the European Central Bank the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the New York State Division of Financial Services. Althea holds graduate degrees from Harvard University (Kennedy School) and the University of Leeds United Kingdom.
